The Leadington Board hears plans for a new sports bar and grill

The Leadington Board of Aldermen heard an update from Captain Tommy Hill, Captain of the Leadington Fire Department, during their meeting on Monday evening.

During the Monday night meeting, the Leadington Board of Aldermen heard an update about a new store opening in town.

Nick Basinger is renting and working on the renovation of the front of the old Hometown Metal Supply building to open the Bullpen Sports Grill. He gave the board an update on their plans for the room after some misunderstandings.

He had spoken to two former city officials and assumed they had cleared everything up with the city, but failed to see that their plans had yet to be approved by the planning and zoning committee and the board of directors.

“It’s fine,” said Mayor Joe Davis. “We will only work the other way around.”

Basinger said they have signed a five-year deal and will also take over the Hometown Metal section once they have completely moved. Junior Construction also runs out of the building. The building is for sale, but he said their contract is guaranteed even if the building is sold.

“It’s been in bad shape for a long time,” said Davis. “So it’s good to see someone doing something with it.”

Basinger said they hope to open by early July this summer. He and his business partner carried out the renovation work themselves.

“The building was in terrible shape,” he said. “We’ve probably already invested $ 50,000 from our own money alone. You’re more than welcome to come down, take a tour, check it out. If you go through it you will be amazed. “
