Coronavirus Metrics in Every of Illinois’ 11 Well being Care Areas – NBC Chicago
While several health regions in Illinois have seen improvements in positivity rates and ICU bed availability, almost every region is still seeing increases in coronavirus-related hospitalizations.
According to the latest data from the Illinois Department of Health, only two regions of the state have had steady or declining hospital admissions for at least seven of the last 10 days, one of the benchmarks regions had to meet earlier in the order to reduce COVID mitigations.
Region 3, located in the western part of the state and including Springfield and Quincy, is one of them that has seen improvements in hospital admissions for eight of the last 10 days. The other is in southwest Illinois, near St. Louis, where positivity rates are still slightly up at 6.5%, but hospital admissions have either decreased or remained constant for seven of the last 10 days.
In the northern parts of the state, positivity rates remain low, including in the city of Chicago, where the positivity rate in the state of Illinois is 3.8%. In Cook Counties, that number is 4.1%, while in McHenry and Lake Counties it is 4.4%.
Hospitalization remains a problem in many regions, including Region 5, where bed availability in the intensive care unit remains dangerously low at 6%. The region’s positivity rate has been consistently above 10% for several weeks and is now 10.1%.
