Psychological well being initiative to offer extra psychological well being providers on Kentucky faculty campuses
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – A new initiative aims to bring more mental health services to college students.
The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education announced Tuesday that the initiative will use $ 1.5 million in federal aid to improve mental health on campus as COVID-19 continues to cause stress and uncertainty among students .
The funding is split. A total of $ 900,000 in grants will go to schools to expand mental health programs, and the remainder will be used for government contracts to train staff and provide web-based interventions.
According to official sources, the initiative comes as Kentucky colleges and universities have increased needs for health and counseling resources due to the anxiety and depression caused by the pandemic.
