VESTAL, NY – Binghamton’s sports medicine division has announced that Samantha Brown and Erin Craig have joined the staff. Brown, who will serve as Associate Athletic Trainer, will work with the Bearcat women’s basketball program and both tennis teams. Craig, meanwhile, will serve as Assistant Athletic Trainer and work with the softball program.

“The sports medicine team is thrilled to have Samantha and Erin on our team,” said Chris Downey, director of sports medicine and performance. “Both bring excellent experience and young knowledge with them, which strengthens our team and, overall, benefits the quality of health care for the student athletes.”

Brown comes from Bard College (in Red Hook, NY) where she has worked since 2019. There she worked as an assistant athletic trainer and worked in the cross country, volleyball, women’s basketball, athletics and men’s lacrosse programs.

Prior to Bard College, Brown was an athletics intern in Wisconsin for the 2018-19 academic year. She worked with the cross-country skiing, tennis, soccer, women’s basketball and outdoor athletics programs.

Craig, meanwhile, is coming from Elmira College, where she was Assistant Athletic Trainer since 2018. Her main sporting duties were baseball and soccer, and she also directed four Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers.

From 2015-17 Craig was the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at SUNY Cortland. Her main sports were men’s soccer, field hockey, and women’s lacrosse.

Brown and Craig join a Binghamton Sports Medicine Staff that now includes 6 full-time athletic coaches, 3 part-time athletic coaches, a mental health specialist, a program assistant and several team doctors.
