The place is LSU in newest USA TODAY Sports activities Bracketology?
The LSU men’s basketball season started the season on a 10-2 record and seemed poised to fight for an SEC championship and a high seed in the NCAA tournament.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, they would lose four of their next five games – three of which were against SEC opponents – and were eliminated 11-6 that season.
The LSU was firmly anchored in the bubble of the NCAA tournament and needed a strong end to the regular season.
Head coach Will Wade had his team ready when the Tigers recorded two impressive wins last week, only to improve to 13-6 for the season, with an 8-4 mark in the SEC game.
The win on Saturday against the then No. 16 Tennessee was LSU’s most impressive win of the season. The Tigers dominated either end of the pitch with a relatively easy 78-65 win.
That win put LSU back in conversation with the NCAA tournament, and the latest USA TODAY Sports Bracketology lists the Tigers as number 9 in the East Region.
The opponent of the LSU in the first round is Colorado, number 8.
A # 9 seed for LSU is about right. If the tigers can finish the regular season on a strong note, they have the potential to be a much higher seed.
LSU is back in action on Saturday when Auburn arrives at Baton Rouge.
