It was with great sadness that we learned yesterday that our beloved City Councilor Tom LaBonge had passed away on Thursday, January 7th, 2021. Not only was he a popular member of the Los Angeles City Council, he was both a neighbor and a friend. During my years of community activism as a board member of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council and eight-year director of the Los Feliz Improvement Association, Tom seemed to be all over the neighborhood when we were there too, from beautification projects in Silver Lake to events at Griffith Park. During the six years we had block parties in Los Feliz. Tom kept showing up. We will miss him very much.
