Hello neighbor
Some of the best boys basketball games to be played in 2021 will be held in a 1.2-mile area east of the city of Pittsburgh.
Just over a mile separates Fox Chapel and Shady Side Academy.
The Fox Chapel’s two neighbors have dominated in their respective classifications. On the way to Monday they are overall 26: 3.
The Shady Side Academy is 11-1 and will be one of the top three seeds in the brackets of Class 3A, with an outside chance of earning the best seed.
Fox Chapel is 15-2, and if not the top seed in Class 6A, it will be the No. 2 seed for the second postseason in a row.
The Foxes host the Bulldogs on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in a marquee matchup.
Sparty versus Prexie
Brentwood and Washington were # 1 and # 2 in boys’ basketball sections 4-3A all season.
On Tuesday they meet in Washington with first place or part of first place at the second meeting of the season between the two.
On January 30th, the Spartans used a great third quarter to take control of the top spot in the section with an exciting 55-54 triumph over the Little Prexies. Chase Rosing scored 18 points for Brentwood while Tayshawn Levy led Washington with 17 points.
Since then, Brentwood has lost first place and lost the section games against McGuffey and Charleroi.
Washington have won five games in a row since that defeat.
You can hear this 3A showdown on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. on HSSN.
