With another wet prediction, we’ll take cover indoors and watch some of the big boys’ volleyball games on Tuesday.
There is only one game in the losing column between Hempfield and Penn-Trafford, the top two teams in Section 3-AAA. The Warriors will host the Spartans on Tuesday in hopes of giving Hempfield the first leg of the season.
In Section 2-AAA, the third-placed Butler will shoot the undefeated department head North Allegheny in a match you can hear on HSSN.
In Section 3-AA, Bishop Canevin receives Keystone Oaks in a match for fourth place. The four best teams in each section qualify for the playoffs. You can watch the Golden Eagles vs. Crusaders game on HSSN.
Lacrosse rain dance
Storms aside, have some major boys and girls lacrosse games scheduled for Tuesday.
On the boys’ side, Franklin Regional visits Chartiers Valley in a battle between two of the top four teams in Section 1-AA.
In Section 2-AA, a battle of undefeated section teams takes place on Mars, with the Fightin ‘Planets harboring neighboring Northern Catholics.
Part of the first place is at stake in the girls section 2-AAA when the Shady Side Academy (8-0) welcomes North Allegheny (7-1).
In Section 2-AA, a first-place stake is at stake if Hampton (6-0) hosts Plum (7-1).
Two at Pullman
With a wet forecast, baseball games scheduled for artificial turf have a chance to be played earlier this week.
Two of the better district baseball games on Tuesday are scheduled for Pullman Park in Butler.
North Catholic has a two game lead over Knoch and Highlands in Section 1-4A. The Trojans fight the knights on the lawn at 5:30 p.m.
This is followed by a showdown in section 1-6A for second place as Butler receives the Seneca Valley at 7:30 p.m.
You can watch both games on HSSN, weather permitting.
