WVU Police verify scholar’s demise following College Place incident
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University police confirmed the death of a student on Friday.
Police identified the student as Benjamin Pravecek, a 20-year-old business major from Harpers Ferry.
Officers arrived at University Place after 12:30 p.m. after it was reported that a person had fallen or jumped out of a parking garage. An investigation is ongoing, but the department does not believe it was a foul.
“We mourn today,” said Dean of Studies Corey Farris. “This tragedy reminds us of the importance of the love, care, and compassion we share with others. We have reached out to Benjamin’s family and friends to offer our assistance during this difficult time and we will continue to provide all resources and help that are needed. “
